HISTORICAL VICTORY FOR THE RUSSIAN HANDBALL TEAM AT THE OLYMPICS 2016

Russian women's handball team led by Evgeny Trefilov won the Olympic gold medals after eight successful matches in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. This is the first supreme Olympic result in the history of the women’s national handball.

Team spirit, hard work and the will to win allowed Russian beauties to be ahead of the strongest teams from the Netherlands, Sweden, South Korea, Norway, and finally to beat the French team with a score of 22:19.

Commenting on the results of the “golden” game, Sergey Shishkarev, President of Delo Group and the Handball Federation of Russia, stated:

"The girls did everything great - just great! Despite the enormous moral responsibility and pressure, the interchangeability and the skills of the girls to play to different positions made the rivals feel shocked. We saw the real team on the field, and that's the most important thing! Our team came to win, and we are happy that we did it!

All this time I was with the team and attended the trainings trying to support our stars.

Words can not express the emotions that we have felt during those eight games: excitement, pride, tears of joy. I am delighted with the spirit of strength, skills and professionalism of our handball players. Of course, the special words of gratitude should go to the coaching staff, Evgeny Trefilov, Levon Akopyan and all other professionals whose leadership made the girls Olympic champions.

Our games were watched all over the country. The girls proved that handball is an exciting kind of sport, and the ratings of TV channels and Internet broadcasts have confirmed that public interest has returned. Thanks to all the fans who supported all "heart-stopping" matches!
