TransContainer’s container terminal in Zabaikalsk handles about 30% of overall inland container turnover between Russia and China.
The third stage of the large-scale reconstruction was completed in the end of 2022 resulting in a 10-fold increase in the site's capacity up to 555,000 TEUs per year. The terminal renovation resulted in construction of additional tracks and, together with JSC Russian Railways, implementation of an end-to-end technology for block trains, which significantly accelerates handling of containers and dispatch of trains - the terminal is capable to handle 10 trains with imports from China per day. The total amount of TransContainer’s investments in the terminal development exceeded 5 billion rubles.
In case of cargo flow increase and realization of JSC RZD plans on reconstruction of Zabaikalsk railway station TransContainer is considering possibility of building additional warehouses and railway front adjusting to transshipment facility of Zabaikalsk station which will result in increase of terminal capacity up to 655 thousand TEUs a year.
During their meeting representatives of JSC RZD and TransContainer discussed the issue of disbalance of import and export traffic of wagons. Growing disbalance caused by deficit of railway network capacity has become the reason for container stock jams at border terminals in July. Jointly with JSC RZD this situation at Zabaikalsk terminal has been settled, in particular, timely supply of flatcars for the export of imports coming from China was organized. Thanks to this, the terminal has been operating normally at full capacity since August. < Back to list
