The terminal is located at a strategic border crossing between Russia and China which provides for about 30% of all overland container traffic between two countries. The yard handles import from China, transshipment from the standard Chinese gauge-line (1435 mm wide) to the broad one (1520 mm wide) used in Russia.
Reconstruction of the site was completed in 2022 which resulted in increase of its capacity by 10 times since 2006 (up to 555 thousand TEUs per year). In total, over a period of 15 years, TransContainer has allocated more than 5 billion rubles for this purpose. The final stage of modernization was launch of an "end-to-end" working technology: due to lengthening of two passing siding tracks and to organization of a second junction to Zabaikalsk station, it became possible to spot and pick trains at the terminal in both directions. As a result, throughput capacity of block trains with import from China increased from 4-4.5 to 10-12 per day.
The expansion of the Company's terminal capacity in this location not only improves the quality and rhythm of container services, but also serves strategic interests of Russia, meeting the growing demand for transportation in connection with the countries of Asia-Pacific region. < Back to list
