A surplus of containers at Moscow transportation hub and attractive rates for eastbound shipments stimulated demand on domestic routes. Among other things, this flow was used to deliver containers to the country's key export centers for further exports to China and other countries where imports to Russia originate.
In its turn, imports maintained positive dynamics despite the weakening of the ruble exchange rate. In the second half of 2023, transit growth was observed primarily due to the flow of Belarusian cargo through the North-West ports of Russia, as well as transportation of Korean and Chinese auto parts to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
"In 2023, we managed to increase our transportation volume despite the wagon market conditions, which did not encourage new flatcars acquisition. Over the last 12 months, the fleet operated by the Company has decreased by almost 1.1 thousand units or 3.3 thousand TEUs, but the management focused on improving the efficiency of the available platforms’ utilization. The set goals have been successfully achieved, as evidenced by the operational indicators dynamics", said Mikhail Kontserev, President of PJSC TransContainer.
The company's revenue transportation indicator is made up of the transportation volume of its own and attracted loaded containers and loaded and empty containers of third-party owners. < Back to list
