Renovation continued from 2011 through 2022. Capital investments in the infrastructure over the period stood at some RUB 1.2 bln. The terminal continued to handle cargo without interrupting its technological process during the upgrade.
As a result of the work completed, the capacity of container yards grew from 1,300 TEUs to 4,400 TEUs; the total length of cargo front went up from 62 to 142 conventional wagons.
The terminal renovation came with paving replacement, assembly of crane runways, commissioning of five lifting units, including two electric gantry cranes and three reach stackers. Moreover, the terminal underwent the upgrade of its energy supply and lighting systems and the update of its production areas video surveillance system.
“Krasnoyarsk Krai is among the key cargo-generating centers. An upgraded terminal at Bazaikha station will allow an exponential increase in cargo handling capacity and processing speed, and the ramp-up of the export traffic of TransContainer’s customers in the region,” noted TransContainer’s First Vice President Victor Markov.
The renovation will also make it possible to transport containers in open-box cars from Far Eastern ports in order to lessen the load on the Eastern range of the Russian Railways, and the terminal proximity to the coal mining centers will contribute to the increase in efficiency of rolling stock supply by shortening the railway leg.
The terminal is located in the city of Krasnoyarsk and specializes in arranging export and import train services via land border crossing points and ports. The main product categories handled at the terminal include lumber, aluminum products, pellets (fuel pellets), as well as ferrous scrap. The terminal accounts for 40% of container cargo volume loaded using PJSC TransContainer’s service in the region.
