In spring of 2012 port oil products terminal NNK successfully conducted fire drill exercises to extinguish fire on a berth reception area during oil products loading onto a moored tanker “Melanie”.
The scenario assumed that a pipeline rupture occurred on a berth during oil products loading. This led to combustion on a standpipe platform within the area of 70 m2. To prevent fire spread onto the vessel, technological process was stopped and fire-fighting services were called. They came to the set of staged accident in 5 minutes. Given efficient action of NNK staff and fire-fighters, fire was successfully localised and extinguished.
In May of 2012 Novorossiysk Petrotransshipment Complex (LLC) was put in operation. Construction of the terminal started in Autumn of 2010. In December of 2011 the terminal started operating in test mode. Terminal throughput capacity is 400 thous. tons per year. NNK has two berth (length 184 m and 156 m) with navigation depth from 5.5 m to 8.6 m, allowing to handle 2 vessels simultaneously.
